Fun little brewery place with plenty of outside tables. Food was tasty. Staff were friendly. Prices were good and portions generous. The only parking is onstreet parking so that's a challenge. Be prepared to walk a ways.
Wonderful seating area and a good location. Enjoyed the atmosphere but I wish I would have enjoyed the beer a bit more. Did not enjoy the Tack Shack or Bougie Blonde at all.
Like the sign outside suggests, this place is a thumbs up. They gave us a lot of fries smothered in dill and vinegar, the beer was better than expected, and they had good wine/cocktail options. Very good location and the place has a lot of space. The staff were cool too, good beer place in a town with a lot of beer lovers.
Nice little brew pub with great beer and pretty good food . Nice variety of beer styles on tap. The old growth pale was excellent, full of flavour and well balanced. The IPA was pretty good, the heartwood stout was excellent as well, full of flavour. Love that the pours are 20 Oz. The alpine potatoes dish was great. The Frito elk dish was a bit small for the price, at least more Fritos. Great friendly service. Parking on the street can be tough. Would definitely recommend visiting for the beer alone.
Beer was great, and so was the food! Really appreciated a better food selection than standard brew pup fare. They had some delicious smaller and lighter plates too that helped us bridge between meals. We had the spicy cucumber pickles, beet hummus, and the orzo pasta. Recommend all 3!
This is a newer place that took over the old West Coast Grocery Co. spot. The interior is pretty much the same for the most part. They did take down the back wall in the bar area, making it more open. The burger we had was decent, but their fries were on point. The place is good for groups to come and hang out.
Came here with my uncle and son. I ordered the Bleu cheese wedge salad and grapefruit IPA, he had the classic burger and we got fries for my son.
The beer battered fries were served crispy and hot, and the batter seasoning was awesome. Normally my son uses fries as a way to eat as much ketchup as he can get in a sitting, but the lil man was actually really digging the fries.
I ordered the wedge salad with added fried chicken protein since it's normally served without a protein. The blue cheese had just the right amount of funk. I didn't get to try the burger but the portion sizes for all our food were generous enough for leftovers!
The grapefruit IPA was crisp, clear golden and hoppy without getting into DIPA territory. A wonderful full bodied beer and excellent example of an IPA that I'll be happy to enjoy again!
While we were there, the brew master was at it and the smell of hops and grain wafting through made the experience all the better.
We were lucky enough to meet one of the owners who was super nice and told us a bit more about their establishment. Turns out it's one of the very few woman founded and woman owned breweries in Portland, and we thought they were doing a fantastic job.
Looking forward to coming back and trying more!
I checked out Grand Fir on opening day and was impressed. The service was great, despite it being crowded on opening day. I tried a couple of beers that were both solid as expected knowing they have an excellent brewer. The fried chicken I had was delicious. The atmosphere is good and it's kid friendly. I can't wait to get back and try some more beers.
